Israel strikes presidential palace in Yemen: what targets were attacked
Israel carried out bombings of targets in the capital of Yemen, Sana'a – resulting in the deaths of four people and injuring another 67 – in response to a 'multi-headed' warhead tested on them by the Houthis on Friday.
Video captured the moment the fireball exploded at the strike site, engulfing the area in flames and smoke. After the explosion, a thick black plume of smoke remained in the air, while distant sirens sounded. Israel and the Houthis are engaged in fierce fighting, with the latest airstrikes targeting military warehouses and power plants in Yemen.
A representative from the Houthi health ministry reported that among the casualties were four dead and 67 injured.
Israeli forces claim that the airstrikes were a response to previous attacks by the Houthi regime on Israel and its civilian population. On Friday, the Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Israel in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which further escalated tensions between the sides.
A representative of the Israeli Air Force noted that the missile likely had several sub-munitions designed to explode upon impact.
The Iran-backed Houthis have frequently attacked passing ships in the Red Sea and launched missiles towards Israel, causing friction with the Israeli army. Despite ongoing conflicts, the Houthis remain committed to the defense of Palestinians and vow to continue their efforts for the benefit of Gaza.
Abdul Qader al-Murtada, a high-ranking Houthi official, emphasized their dedication to the Palestinian cause regardless of any sacrifices.
Israel and the Houthis continue their attacks and counterattacks, seeking to ensure safety for their own populations and maintain their allied relations.
