Deadly Attack in Dnipro

According to UATV: On March 24, a Russian drone struck a 13th-floor apartment in a high-rise building in Dnipro, leaving a married couple, Volodymyr and Maryna, with severe injuries but miraculously alive. The attack highlights the ongoing danger faced by civilians in residential areas amid the conflict.

Volodymyr sustained multiple head wounds and damage to his eyes, resulting in the loss of his right eye.

“I was standing by the window and even saw it flying. It hit directly into our apartment,” Volodymyr recounted of the moment of the attack.
The building’s alarm sounded during the assault, but Maryna, who went to check the situation, witnessed the explosion firsthand:
“The alarm went off. I decided to see what was happening. I went to the living room, looked, and it said—clear, no threat. Actually—no danger. And then it all happened. I was standing by the window in the living room. And the strike came,” she recalled of those terrifying moments.

The blast shattered windows from the 14th floor down to the 1st, underscoring the drone’s immense force. According to medic Oleksandr, “Both have severe injuries to the head, face, chest, upper limbs, and eye damage.” Bystanders helped the couple escape the building before an ambulance arrived: “People helped us, carried us out of the building, and then the ambulance took us away,” Volodymyr noted.

Civilian Toll in a War Zone

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks that military operations pose to non-combatants. The attack on a residential building and the critical injuries suffered by the couple illustrate the harsh realities of a war where civilians, not just soldiers, bear the brunt. Protecting innocent lives and preventing such strikes has become an increasingly urgent priority as the conflict continues.
