Drones attacked one of the largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation.
Drones attacked the oil refinery in the Leningrad region
Last night, the Kirishi oil refinery in the Leningrad region was attacked by unknown drones, reported Governor Alexander Drozdenko. Between 5 and 6 in the morning, several explosions were heard in the vicinity of the refinery. This led to a temporary halt in traffic at Pulkovo Airport. According to government sources, one of the drones was shot down during its approach, while the other hit the refinery, damaging one of the tanks. The process of eliminating the consequences of these attacks has already begun.
This incident recalls a similar situation that occurred on the night of March 4, when the Syzran oil refinery, one of the largest in Russia, was also attacked by drones. The refinery has a processing capacity of 8.9 million tons of oil per year and produces Euro-5 standard products. As a result of this attack, one of the tanks was damaged. The motives and targets of such attacks remain unknown.
