The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Norway strengthen cooperation in the field of radiological and nuclear safety.

A meeting was held at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine with the leadership of SES and a delegation from the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority headed by General Director Per Strand. The main goal of the meeting was to discuss enhancing the capabilities of the radiological, chemical, and biological protection units of SES and to determine further areas of cooperation within the framework of the Norwegian government's 'Nansen' program. SES Head Andriy Dyky expressed gratitude to the Government of Norway for supporting Ukrainian rescuers and emphasized the importance of assistance from the Norwegian agency through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. It was calculated that as a result of the meeting, 1500 dosimeters and 5 automated radiation monitoring systems will be provided, which will enhance the safety of rescuers and improve response effectiveness to radiological accidents. General Director of the Norwegian Agency Per Strand expressed admiration for the work of SES and hopes for further expansion of cooperation. Andriy Dyky emphasized SES's interest in further collaboration with the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority and the Government of Norway to create a safe space in Ukraine and protect the population from radiation threats.
