Duda drew attention to the threat to Ukrainian NPPs from Russia.

Polish President Andrzej Duda expressed concern about possible Russian attacks on Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

Commenting on a recent statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Duda emphasized the reality of such a threat.

"Russia has already attacked the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the non-operational Chornobyl NPP. Fortunately, this did not lead to a nuclear catastrophe," noted the Polish leader. He added that there is a risk of attacks on other power plants, particularly the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs.

Duda stressed the need to be prepared for such a scenario: "If there are attacks, immediate intervention will be necessary, calling in specialists".

It is worth recalling that Volodymyr Zelensky at a UN Security Council meeting stated plans by Russians to attack three Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski expressed disagreement with the US position on banning Ukraine from using Western weapons to strike Russian Federation territory. In an interview with CNN, he mentioned the tragic incident in Lviv, where nearly the entire Bazylevych family was killed in a Russian missile attack.
