Today, July 20, marks two years since one of the largest shellings of Odesa during the great war. That night in 2023, rockets and drones hit the city center, resulting in the death of a person, injuries, and severe destruction.
Novyny.LIVE today recalls the events of that terrible night.
As a result of one of the largest attacks on the city, aimed at civilian infrastructure, numerous properties were damaged, including an administrative building in downtown Odesa and the building of the Chinese consulate. The main strike was on residential buildings and educational institutions, among them a school, lyceum, and kindergarten. One of the rockets hit the bank building, resulting in the death of a guard, and several people were injured.
The Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation
After the third shelling of Odesa, the prosecutor's office launched a pre-trial investigation aimed at identifying and bringing those responsible for these crimes to justice.
The shelling incident in Odesa on July 20, 2023, remains one of the most horrifying and tragic events in the city. The attack affected not only the city's infrastructure but also impacted the peaceful residents who suffered from the devastating force of war.
