Expert explained the nuances of new NBU restrictions on money transfers.
From October 1, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine established new restrictions on money transfers between individuals.
This was reported by accountant Elena Kistrytsia during a broadcast with Yuriy Romanenko.
According to Kistrytsia, the limit on transfers between individuals in one bank is 150,000 hryvnias. "This restriction applies only to expenses, not income. You can receive, for example, 200,000 hryvnias on your card, but you will only be able to transfer 150,000 hryvnias to another individual," explained the expert.
It is worth noting that these restrictions apply to the total amount of transfers across all client cards within one bank. If a person has accounts in different banks, the limit of 150,000 hryvnias will apply separately for each bank.
Kistrytsia emphasized that the new rules do not apply to transfers to the bank accounts of legal entities and entrepreneurs. "All transfers to IBAN accounts can be done as before, as much as you need," she added.
According to the expert, these measures are aimed at combating illegal financial operations. "This is intended to fight drops. Drops are people who may not even know about it, but some number of cards are issued to them, and for the purpose of cashing out, money is transferred to these cards, and then they are withdrawn," explained Kistrytsia.
Despite the introduction of new restrictions, the accountant believes that they will not affect most citizens. "The NBU claims that 98% of bank clients make monthly transfers that do not exceed the specified amount. Therefore, this rule will not affect anyone," emphasized Elena Kistrytsia.
