Former US prosecutor investigating Russian crimes found dead: all details.


Former federal prosecutor Jessica Aber has been found dead in the US. She investigated CIA leaks, Russian fraud, and war crimes in Ukraine. According to the website «Glavcom», this was reported by the British publication The Guardian.
Jessica Aber, the former prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, was found dead at her home on Saturday, March 22. Alexandria police discovered her unconscious at 9:20 AM.
Authorities stated that the cause and circumstances of Aber's death would be determined by a medical examination. Preliminary data indicates she died from a long-standing medical issue.
Two former high-ranking officials from the US Department of Justice also stated that investigators found no signs of violent death.
What is known about Jessica Aber?
Aber began her career in 2009 at the district court in the Eastern District of Virginia, where she handled cases involving financial fraud, public corruption, violent crimes, and child exploitation.
From 2015 to 2016, she served as an advisor to the assistant attorney general in the criminal division of the Department of Justice. Since 2016, and prior to becoming the US Attorney, Aber held the position of deputy chief of the criminal division of the Eastern District of Virginia district court.
Aber's candidacy for the position of federal prosecutor was proposed by Joe Biden on August 10, 2021, and was unanimously confirmed by the Senate. On January 20, the day of Donald Trump's inauguration, Aber announced her resignation after serving in this position for over three years.
In her statement, Aber said: «I was honored to spend my career as a prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, working alongside talented, hardworking public servants who address issues affecting citizens here and around the world.
What did Aber work on during her tenure?
Before her resignation, Aber led several important cases. She headed the investigation into former CIA analyst Asif Rahman, who leaked secret documents about Israeli strikes on Iran via Telegram.
She also prosecuted leaders of Eleview International Inc., who smuggled over $6 million worth of American technology to Russia. Additionally, the prosecution under her leadership charged two Russian citizens with large-scale cyber fraud and money laundering.
Aber also participated in the first criminal prosecution of Russian military personnel for crimes against a US citizen in Ukraine. Four Russian soldiers are accused of kidnapping and torturing an American in the Kherson region.
