El Chapo's Wife Offers Apology to Victims of Drug Cartel: What Coronel Said.
Apology from El Chapo's Wife
According to The Sun: El Chapo's wife, Emma Coronel, apologized to the victims of her husband's criminal activities ten years after his arrest. Coronel, who married drug lord Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán at the age of 18, expressed her condolences to the families of those who suffered at the hands of drug criminals like her husband and stated:
“I ask for forgiveness from the gods, forgiveness from the victims, forgiveness from all the people affected by my family.”
She also emphasized that she is aware of the scale of the suffering caused to people caught in their world.
Emma Coronel's apology has elicited mixed reactions from society, as her words are backed by thousands of tragedies and human fates destroyed by the criminal business. This word of repentance can be seen as an attempt at rehabilitation or an internal acceptance of responsibility for the horrific acts that resulted from her husband's activities.
