Resort reconstruction on the coast

Skirlington Coast Resort

Unity Holidays, the owner of Skirlington Coast resort, aims to attract more visitors to its complex.

They plan to become a popular spot for holiday homeowners and tourists on the east coast of Yorkshire.

The resort has submitted plans for a multimillion-pound upgrade in Atwick, near Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

The proposed construction includes creating a large open swimming area and a splash zone with seating.

There are also plans for sun decks, cabanas, and festival gardens for outdoor events.

Existing facilities are small

The resort includes 680 holiday caravans and another 400 pitches for tents and trailers.

However, the current facilities have proven inadequate for such a large park, and no investments have been made in them recently.

The resort owners believe that the new facilities will help Skirlington Coast attract more tourists.

This will also help reduce the seasonality of jobs.

The new owners, who took over in 2024, have already improved the dining, beverages, and recreation services, creating 30 new jobs.

Since early 2025, the resort has expanded its team.

Unity Holidays sees these plans as the next step in the park's development.

Ready to open by Easter 2026

If plans are approved, Skirlington Coast intends to carry out most of the work in winter.

It is expected that some new facilities will open by Easter 2026.

The resort is collaborating with neighboring businesses to expand the number of static caravans.

Skirlington Coast resort manager Rob Bruton noted: “Last year we spent over £3 million on local caravan manufacturers just at this resort.”
“We will continue to source supplies for holidays locally, enhancing and developing our offering.”
“We also want to create jobs for local residents, and by improving our offering, we hope to attract more tourists to the beautiful east Yorkshire coastline.”
“This, in turn, will help increase the flow of visitors to neighboring towns like Hornsea and Bridlington.”
Skirlington Coast resort is actively preparing for a large-scale reconstruction that will expand its capabilities and enhance its appeal to tourists. New facilities are expected to not only provide better leisure for holidaymakers but also improve the economic stability of the region by creating new jobs and attracting visitors to neighboring towns. All these efforts emphasize Unity Holidays' commitment to making the resort one of the main tourist destinations on the Yorkshire coast.
