Buses from Ukraine to Poland Suspended for 18 Months Due to Repairs at Shehyni-Medyka Border Crossing.
Restrictions at the Shehyni-Medyka Border Checkpoint
According to Novyny.live: Starting June 15, 2026, and continuing until November 2027, bus traffic from Ukraine into Poland will be halted at the Shehyni-Medyka crossing point. This disruption is caused by scheduled repairs to the bus lane on the entry side toward Poland, as announced by the Lviv Customs Office. The Shehyni-Medyka crossing is a key land border link between the two countries, frequently used by travelers and transport operators.
It is important to note that buses traveling in the opposite direction—from Poland into Ukraine—will continue to operate normally without any schedule changes. Therefore, only passengers heading from Ukraine to Poland will be affected by this restriction. The customs office urges all road users to factor these changes into their travel plans for the coming months.
The repair work is intended to upgrade the infrastructure and improve future border crossing efficiency and comfort. While the closure is lengthy, alternative checkpoints remain open and can serve as viable detours during this period.
Why This Restriction Matters
The temporary limitation at Shehyni-Medyka aims to enhance road infrastructure, which could boost the crossing's capacity in the long run. Given the extended timeline of the repairs, passengers are advised to adjust their routes well in advance. Other border crossings in the region remain operational, offering alternative travel options while construction is underway.
