EU to allocate 200 million euros for school meals for children in Ukraine.
According to inkorr.com: The European Union is taking a new step to support Ukraine by allocating approximately 200 million euros to provide school meals for Ukrainian children. This information was
stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during her speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
Funding for School Meals in Ukraine
Von der Leyen emphasized that these funds are aimed at meeting the basic needs of Ukrainian schoolchildren affected by the war.
“The European Union supports Ukraine. We are ready to allocate around 200 million euros for school meals. But our commitment will last until all children in Ukraine return home,” she noted.
Psychological and Educational Support
Additionally, the EU, in cooperation with UNICEF, is allocating over 10 million euros for psychological and educational assistance to Ukrainian children who returned from occupation. These funds will help children recover and return to normal life.
Areas of EU Funding
EU support for Ukraine also covers other areas. In particular, the European Union is financing the work of the Ukrainian prosecutor's office to investigate war crimes and restore justice for affected families.
Sanctions Against Child Kidnappers
The EU has also imposed sanctions against more than 50 individuals involved in the illegal transportation of Ukrainian children.
“Each kidnapped child is a loss not only for Ukraine but for the whole world. We must bring them home,” von der Leyen stressed.
She added that currently over 1.5 million Ukrainian children are in occupied territories where forced Russification is taking place.
This step by the European Union underscores the importance of international support in the context of war and the challenging humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Financing for school meals and assistance for children affected by the conflict demonstrate the EU's long-standing commitment to helping Ukrainian youth. Support for educational and psychological initiatives is also critically important in this difficult situation, as children are the future of the nation, and their welfare and education must become a priority for all.
