According to UATV: During a briefing in Kyiv on February 24, 2023, European Council President António Costa reaffirmed the European Union's steadfast support for Ukraine. His statements came on the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, underscoring the EU's enduring commitment. Costa emphasized the financial, political, and security assistance Ukraine receives, as well as the EU's obligation to continue supporting the country on its path toward membership in the community.
EU Financial Aid and Commitments
António Costa noted that the European Commission had agreed on a 90 billion euro package for Ukraine, a decision finalized on December 18, 2022. In his address, the European Council President stressed that
“my message remains absolutely clear: Ukraine can count on the EU”and added that
“the EU fully supports Ukraine on all fronts: financial, political, diplomatic, and on the security front as well”.
Costa also assured that
“we will continue to support Ukraine on its path to the European Union. I reiterate, you can rely on the EU”. These words confirm the European Union's readiness to actively support Ukraine in its aspirations for integration into the European community. This support is a cornerstone of the EU's strategic response to the ongoing conflict.
