The European Union is preparing new sanctions against the Russian Federation: in response to the massive shelling of Ukraine.
Reaction of European leaders to Russia's aggression
European leaders express their outrage at the massive strike inflicted by Russia on Ukraine. This attack has resulted in casualties and numerous injuries. The reaction to this event has been resolute, with calls for active measures.According to inkorr.com: EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Matherova believes that Russian President Putin is becoming increasingly brazen, attacking the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv. She emphasized that this is a very alarming situation and called for increased sanctions against Russia and greater support for Ukraine.
“This escalation by Putin is true terror. It is an attack on people, on democracy, on our spirit... Ukrainians rightly demand more than words. More stringent sanctions - especially against Russian oil and gas. And more weapons for Ukraine now - to stop this terror.” - Katarina Matherova
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky also condemned Putin's actions, calling him a coward who deliberately targets women and children. He emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine and to respond to this tragedy.
“Last night he launched over 800 drones and missiles, killing a mother and her two-month-old child. A coward who attacks women and children. Speaking today about stopping aid to Ukraine means siding with the aggressor.” - Jan Lipavsky
The President of Latvia pointed out that Russia's attack indicates its aggressive intentions. He stressed that Europe must respond to this terror and support Ukraine during this difficult period.
“Our response should consist of supplying more weapons to Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.” - President of Latvia
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna also noted that new sanctions against the Russian Federation should be introduced, and greater support for Ukraine should be ensured, emphasizing that Russia's aggressive actions require decisive intervention.
Today, Europe faces the challenge of an adequate response to Russia's attack on Ukraine. Leaders of countries are calling for decisive action, increased sanctions, and support for Ukraine to prevent further aggression and ensure the security and sovereignty of states in the region.
