Estonia will allocate 3 million euros for Starlink for Ukraine: deal details.
According to inkorr.com: The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, met with the head of the Estonian Ministry of Defense, Hanno Pevkur. During the meeting, they discussed strengthening air defense, developing drone production, and creating joint enterprises in the defense sector. This was reported by the news agency 'Glavkom', referring to Shmyhal's words.
During the meeting, Pevkur announced Estonia's initiative to allocate 3 million euros for the purchase and support of Starlink satellite communication systems for Ukraine. Shmyhal also emphasized Ukraine's readiness to join projects under Safe and Legio, which will contribute to the joint development of the defense-industrial complex.
President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, signed a law that continues funding the subscription fee for Starlink terminals in Ukraine. This will ensure continuous communication for frontline communities and critical infrastructure. Poland has already provided Ukraine with more than 29,000 such terminals.
American support for Ukraine
The U.S. State Department approved the sale of satellite communication services and equipment for Starlink and Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. It was previously reported that USAID faced difficulties in monitoring the use of thousands of Starlink terminals provided to Ukraine after the Russian invasion in 2022.
Ukraine has support from the European Union, the USA, and other European countries. Discussions of initiatives and funding are an important step towards strengthening the country's defense amid the war and threats from other states. American assistance in the form of services and equipment demonstrates the willingness of international partners to share advanced technologies and contribute to the development of the Ukrainian defense sector.
