European Commissioner Calls on the EU to Prepare for War: What Does It Mean.
Security Challenges in Europe
According to inkorr.com: Europe is facing serious threats from Russia that could negatively impact the security of the continent. European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius has urged EU countries to actively strengthen their defense capabilities to avoid the possibility of capitulation.
Kubilius reminded of an ancient Roman wisdom and rephrased it for modern times: 'If you want peace, prepare for war. Or, another version: prepare for capitulation if you want peace like Putin.'
According to the Commissioner, Russia continues to provoke European Union countries and undermine their defense initiatives. Europe needs to enhance not only its material but also institutional and political readiness to defend itself to effectively counter aggression from Moscow and ensure stability on the continent.
'We are indeed under threat. We must be ready. Be united in defense and deterrence,' Kubilius stressed.
Kubilius also emphasized that Europe is not yet fully prepared for modern military conflicts in which drones play a key role. He urged EU countries to work closely with NATO and noted that drones could become essential tools for detecting and targeting enemy objectives in the event of aggression.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of bolstering Europe's defense efforts amid provocations from Russia and growing threats to the security of the continent. His calls for enhancing readiness for defense and cooperation with NATO reflect the seriousness of the situation and the need for unity to support peace in the region.
Thus, Kubilius's comments serve as a reminder of the necessity for Europe's preparedness against external challenges. In the face of rising threats, it is crucial to ensure both military and political solidarity among EU countries, which can significantly influence stability in the region.
