European countries plan to deploy troops in Ukraine to support a ceasefire: WP named the number.
European countries are preparing to deploy troops in Ukraine to support a possible ceasefire. According to The Washington Post, the deployment of a military contingent, which may consist of 25-30 thousand servicemen, is planned. These troops will not be on the front line, but will be able to deter Russian aggression in case of war. France is ready to send approximately 10,000 military personnel, and the United Kingdom also supports this idea.
Many countries are discussing asking the United States for help with intelligence and protecting the military contingent. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that progress has already been made in the deployment of European troops, but he wants to have specific security guarantees in practice, not just on paper.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Poland does not plan to send its troops to Ukraine but will support other countries logistically and politically that will provide guarantees in the future.
