Europe is facing a tough battle for gas - Media.
This year, the world is preparing for a struggle over natural gas supplies. This will lead to rising bills for consumers and factories in Europe. Europe risks failing to meet its gas storage obligations for next winter, creating conditions for a fight over supplies. This year, Europe will experience an energy deficit.
To cover the projected demand, Europe will need to import an additional 10 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year. New export projects in North America could help ease market tensions. Europe will require LNG supplies, some of which will come from Asia. This will raise prices beyond what countries like India, Bangladesh, and Egypt can afford.
In Russia, the focus will be on whether the country can maintain its exports after U.S. sanctions. The market outlook depends on the number of quickly launched new production facilities. Starting from 2026, an additional 175 million tons of new LNG supplies will come online.
