Authorities arrested three children in connection with the explosions, considering it 'a disturbance among criminals.'
Head of the police operations management Rune Hekkelstrand noted that 'we do not rule out [further] arrests.'
The investigation is ongoing, and there are reasons to believe that several individuals are involved in the explosions.
Law enforcement cautioned residents to stay away from windows due to the possibility of other explosive devices.
According to Norwegian Aftenposten, one of the arrested is a boy born in 2012.
The police are trying to establish the whereabouts of other suspects but have not yet reported how many individuals they are looking for.
The first report of the explosion came around 21:00.
A police representative confirmed that they conducted a controlled detonation of the grenade.
Witnesses reported seeing drones flying over the area during the explosion.
No injuries had been reported as a result of the incident.
Details of the explosion and police warnings
Detonations occurred near a university campus, approximately 500 meters from the royal palace and the Israeli embassy.
In a rare case, the authorities sent an emergency message to the mobile phones of Oslo residents warning of the explosion.
“An explosion occurred in an area known as Pilestredet.”
“Considering that there may still be an explosive device in the area, the police are asking people to stay away from windows,”continued the message.

“At the moment, we are not evacuating the area.”
Thus, the area remains cordoned off by the police.
A representative noted that a large area would remain closed off, which is likely to impact transportation, including trams passing through this zone.
Residents of the area told Norwegian media NRK that the explosions were so loud that 'it hurt their ears.'
“There was a big explosion,”one local resident recalled.
“We just saw someone grab a hooded man who ran from the scene.”
Another witness noted that he smelled smoke near the Bislett stadium.
The police reported that the explosions were the result of a planted grenade, and other unexploded devices were found later.
The grenade, it was revealed, was left on the tram tracks.
The fire service and rescue services were also notified and responded to assist the police.
The incident occurred almost a day after reports of drone sightings near Oslo and Copenhagen airports.
This incident raises concerns among residents of the city as it highlights the importance of safety and crime fighting within the Oslo police district. The police continue their investigation, and residents hope that the situation will stabilize quickly.
