Discussion of security guarantees in Europe
The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine was discussed in Europe during negotiations with the USA in Washington. The President of the European Commission listened to the positions of Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky and discussed them with leaders of EU member states. Europe plans to join the discussion alongside Ukraine and the USA.
'It is now important to accelerate work on guarantees similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter. The Ukrainian military is our first line of defense. Therefore, we must strengthen military support for Ukraine. The European Union supports Ukraine both economically and militarily and is ready for new opportunities.'
Regarding sanctions against Russia, there are no specific details yet, but the European Union promises to continue to pressure Russia economically and politically until the conflict in Eastern Ukraine is over. Brussels plans new sanctions in September despite ongoing negotiations.
'Pressure on Russia must continue until they stop their aggression. Sanctions help limit Russia and force Putin to negotiate. This pressure will continue until there is peace in Eastern Ukraine.'
Many EU representatives are demanding a ceasefire before negotiations begin. The President of France shared the opinion that the coming weeks will be crucial for resolving this issue, and they are ready to support Ukraine in various areas. Europe is also ready to participate in joint operations to ensure peace in the region.
As a result of meetings in Washington and discussions in Europe, the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine and further actions in the context of the conflict in the east of the country is raised. New approaches and joint measures are planned to ensure security and stop aggression.
