The USA and the EU are preparing security guarantees for Ukraine after a ceasefire: details of the documents

According to ТСН: The United States, together with European leaders, are working on two documents aimed at defining support for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire agreement.

Contents of the Documents

The first document details the main commitments of partners to Ukraine. US officials and European diplomats emphasize that these guarantees resemble NATO Article 5, although they are not formally its analogue.

The second document is operational in nature and contains details of cooperation between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military structures of Europe and the USA. It includes mechanisms for responding to potential violations of the ceasefire and actions in the event of new attempts by Russia to seize Ukrainian territories.

Both documents have not yet been made public. According to one American official, the operational section is "very specific" and includes many instructions to prevent a renewed invasion if it occurs, as well as to punish Russia.

"However, the prospect of a ceasefire remains uncertain as it is unknown whether Russia will agree to these terms."

Security Guarantees for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that they are discussing three documents, including not only a peace plan but also an economic recovery plan for the country as well as security guarantees.

He emphasized the importance of receiving guarantees from the United States and European countries that would include bilateral security agreements similar to NATO Article 5, as well as enhanced guarantees from Canada and Japan.

Negotiations on peace have been ongoing for almost a month since November 20, when news emerged of a new "Trump's 28-point peace plan," which contained unfavorable terms for Ukraine. Since then, numerous negotiations have taken place involving Ukraine, European partners, the USA, and Russia to agree on a final document.

The most crucial point unacceptable to Ukraine involves the possibility of forcibly withdrawing troops and transferring to Russia the territories of the Donetsk region that Moscow failed to capture. Kyiv firmly opposes such terms.

The development of these documents underscores international support for Ukraine and attempts to ensure its security in an unpredictable situation. However, the further development of events will depend on the positions of all parties involved, as well as Russia's willingness to accept the agreed terms of the peace process.
