Gazprom filed a new lawsuit against Naftogaz
The Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has filed another lawsuit against Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to the arbitration case database, Gazprom submitted the statement of claim to the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on June 5, 2025. The consideration of the claim has not yet been conducted, reports Neftogaz.
In addition, a preliminary lawsuit by Gazprom against Naftogaz is under consideration in the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, which was filed back in December 2023. The court supported Gazprom and imposed a judicial penalty of 150.107 million USD. In response, Naftogaz made claims against Gazprom for 1.352 billion USD in foreign arbitration. The court also sided with Gazprom and increased the penalty to 1.352 billion USD and 1.579 million euros.
Conclusion:
Gazprom filed a new lawsuit against Naftogaz, adding a new layer to the already complex legal battle between the Ukrainian and Russian gas companies.
