General Hodges outlined key requirements for the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

The former commander of the US Army in Europe, General Ben Hodges, shared his vision of the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine during a telethon broadcast.

The general emphasized the need to define the objectives and tasks for the military force that allies plan to send to Ukraine. He also stressed the importance of clearly outlining the rules of engagement for peacekeepers, particularly the use of force to punish Russia in case of a ceasefire violation.

Peacekeeping forces must have a very clear chain of command. They must be integrated into Ukrainian airspace and air defense. It cannot be a separate force. It should have air, ground, naval components, unmanned and anti-drone capabilities, air defense systems – everything necessary to influence the Russian side when they violate the ceasefire.

Hodges also noted that implementing this initiative requires political will from European countries, and the preparation will take time.

I believe this is absolutely possible if Europe has the political will to do so. But it will take a lot of time. Even if they reach an agreement today, it will take several months before they are ready to implement it. They need to train together, rather than as a separate outpost.

It was also reported that China may join the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
