The government provides the State Tax Service access to bank secrets: is this draft law timely?

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Daniil Hetmanцев, stated that the draft law granting the Tax Service access to bank secrets is currently not a priority. The Cabinet of Ministers justified the necessity of passing the law by the technical capabilities of the Tax Service, however, Hetmanцев emphasizes that this service lacks the necessary technical infrastructure to maintain the relevant registry.

According to the MP, the primary step is the digitization and improvement of staffing in the Tax Service. Hetmanцев stressed that the main goal of the reforms is to restore trust in the Tax Service, which is currently at a low level, therefore measures must be taken to improve the situation.
