Senator Graham urged Trump to take radical action against Iran: what the US proposes.
According to ТСН: Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called on US President Donald Trump to take decisive action in response to the mass protests in Iran.
In an interview with Fox News, he commented on the situation in Iran, claiming that the current Iranian regime is the main source of instability in the Middle East, and that the maintenance of power by the supreme leader only worsens the crisis in the region.
Sharp criticism of the Ayatollah
Graham harshly criticized Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, comparing him to 20th-century Nazi dictators, noting that his removal could be an important step for Iran.
“He is the Hitler of our time. He is a religious Nazi. He is a terrible person. It is time for him to go. The people want him to leave,” emphasized the senator.
The importance of supporting protesters
Graham emphasized that Donald Trump, in his opinion, believes that the success of the protest movement is the only way to bring about change in Iran. He is convinced that the fall of the regime could open new opportunities for the country's transformation and end confrontation with the West.
The senator urged the US president to take actions that would simultaneously support the protesters and intimidate the Iranian authorities.
“Whatever our actions are, Mr. President, they must inspire the protesters and scare the regime to death,” stated Graham.
Graham also stressed the need for the physical removal of the leadership, which, according to him, is responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians, and noted that such actions could stop the violence.
The senator believes that the fall of the Iranian regime will have serious consequences for the region, which may lead to a reduction in Iran's influence as a state sponsor of terrorism, the disappearance of terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as opening pathways to peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
The maintenance of the Ayatollah's power
At the same time, Graham warned that the retention of the Ayatollah's power would mean a “giant step backward,” emphasizing his confidence in Donald Trump, whom he compared to Ronald Reagan, urging support for the Iranian people in their struggle against the regime.
It has also been reported that the US President is ready to help Iran achieve freedom. Iran, for its part, warned that in the event of an attack by the US, US and Israeli military forces would become “legitimate targets.”
Currently, the situation in Iran remains tense, and calls from international leaders to support the protesters are fueling discussions on potential response options. Washington's position may significantly influence the further developments in the country that stands on the brink of change.
