Google allocated $1.5 million to Mriya: how AI will change education in Ukrainian schools

According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian educational project 'Mriya' received funding of $1.5 million from Google.org for the development of digital education in Ukraine. The project became a participant in the Google.org Fellowship program, and the funds received will be used to implement artificial intelligence-based tools. This information is reported by 'Gromadske' citing the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Thanks to Google's support, integration of AI technologies based on Gemini into the 'Mriya' system is planned. At the first stage, artificial intelligence will help provide personalized recommendations for educational content and reduce the routine workload on teachers. In the future, AI will help to form individual educational trajectories for each child, taking into account their interests and needs.

Positive feedback about the initiative from Google

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov noted that support from Google is an 'important signal that Ukraine is creating innovative products'. According to him, in September, more than 2,000 schools already started training with 'Mriya'. In 2026, it is planned to start piloting the project in preschool institutions and develop a concept for higher education.

Rowan Barnett, Director of Google.org Europe, also noted that the company believes in education as a guarantee of a better future. He emphasized that this partnership confirms the shared mission to utilize technology to create new opportunities.

The implementation of the project will take place in collaboration with the East Europe Foundation. The president of the foundation, Viktor Lyakh, emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence and the expansion of applications for preschoolers will make the learning process even more engaging and accessible.

The 'Mriya' project began piloting in September 2024, and in April 2025 the website and application will be available to all interested schools. Thanks to support from Google, it is planned to expedite the scaling of the project and implement it in educational institutions across Ukraine.

Thus, the educational ecosystem 'Mriya' received significant support from Google.org for the development of digital education with an emphasis on the implementation of artificial intelligence tools, which will contribute to improving the educational process. The initiative has already received positive feedback from Ukrainian officials and representatives of Google.
