VAKS chooses a preventive measure for Deputy Laba in the bribery voting case.
According to ТСН: The High Anti-Corruption Court has made a decision on a preventive measure for people's deputy Mykhailo Laba, a member of the "Servant of the People" faction. He is suspected of receiving bribes for voting in the Verkhovna Rada. The details of this decision are currently not disclosed as the meeting was held in closed session, just like the case of another deputy from this faction, Yevhen Pyvovarov, who is also accused of receiving illegal benefits.
During the closed court proceedings, the prosecutor explained that the decision was made in accordance with Article 27 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He emphasized that a closed examination is necessary to protect the secrecy of the pre-trial investigation and the safety of persons involved in the criminal proceedings.
What is known about the "bribes in envelopes" case
On December 29, NABU and SAP announced suspicion against five deputies from the "Servant of the People" faction, who are suspected of receiving bribes for "necessary" voting in parliament.
According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, the suspects include Yuriy Kisiel, Yevhen Pyvovarov, Ihor Negulevskyi, Olha Savchenko, and Mykhailo Laba.
According to media reports, the money was allegedly handed over in "envelopes" in one of the offices, where, according to the investigation, NABU conducted covert investigative actions.
On December 30, 2025, VAKS chose a preventive measure for another subject of the case – people's deputy Yuriy Kisiel.
This case is part of a broader investigation into corruption in the Ukrainian parliament, which is actively covered by the media. The accusations against the deputies indicate serious problems in the system of public administration and politics. Society is observing the developments, expecting transparent results of the investigation and corresponding actions from the justice authorities.
