Attack on Kharkiv

According to UATV: On June 20, Russian forces launched an attack on Kharkiv using guided aerial bombs. The strike occurred at dawn, destroying a two-story residential building in the Kholodnohirskyi district. A 75-year-old man was killed under the rubble, while his daughter-in-law was rescued. In total, nine people were injured, including two children.

Three aerial bombs were used in the attack, one of which was intercepted. The other two struck a residential building that had already been hit in 2022. According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the munitions used were UMPB-5 guided bombs. This marks the second such attack with guided aerial bombs in the last two days.

Eyewitness Accounts

Mykola Yalovenko, a 75-year-old eyewitness, said they 'miraculously survived.' He recounted:

“The strike was so sudden that I didn’t even have time to be scared; I didn’t understand anything and just rushed to get out as fast as I could.”

Inna Bazylevych, who received a call from her mother about the attack, shared:

“I woke up to my mom’s call, who said: 'Inna, there’s been a hit, we need to act.' We came immediately to assess the situation and help both the rescuers and the people.”

This attack underscores the ongoing violence in the region, which continues to take a heavy toll on civilians. International organizations have noted that such incidents highlight the urgent need for measures to protect non-combatants and ensure safety in conflict zones. The recent escalation in military actions risks deepening the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
