Health Official Warns of Immune System Risks from Winter Heating Shortages
According to Novyny.live: Nataliia Lisnevska, former Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health, has issued a stark warning about the severe health risks posed by a lack of heating in Ukrainian apartments this winter. She stated that these conditions can weaken the immune system and lead to a rise in illnesses among the population. Lisnevska made these remarks during an appearance on the program Day.LIVE.
This warning comes as Kyiv struggles with the aftermath of Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure. While a phased restoration of the heating supply is underway following emergency outages, the situation remains critical. Most homes still without heat are located in the Desnianskyi district, particularly in the Troieshchyna area. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that the capital is facing the most severe heating supply challenges in the country.
'Unfortunately, the current energy situation in Kyiv means radiators are not hot, but merely warm.' Nataliia Lisnevska
Lisnevska emphasized that persistent exposure to cold constitutes a 'colossal risk group' for public health. This underscores the gravity of the problem facing residents and the urgent need for measures to ensure adequate heating in homes. The lack of heating creates a direct danger to health, especially during winter when the risk of illness is highest.
