IKEA is returning: stores in Ukraine will open this year.
The opening of IKEA stores in Ukraine is expected in 2025
The official opening date will be announced by IKEA, said the operational director of Lavina Mall and Blockbuster Mall, Dmytro Lashin.
'There is very encouraging information that it will certainly happen this year, but there are two scenarios. The first - if hostilities cease in Ukraine, then it will happen very, very quickly. If hostilities do not cease, the opening will take a little more time. They are physically ready already,' Lashin said.
According to Lashin, the retailer is conducting daily work on the physical updating of the store, such as cleaning, partial repairs, replacing signage, and removing old goods.
According to Oksana Donska, a member of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers (UAM), there are already orders from Ukrainian manufacturers for a fairly wide range of furniture from IKEA.
In May 2020, the official online store of IKEA in Ukraine was launched along with pickup points in Auchan Rive Gauche and Metro Cash & Carry in Kyiv. In December 2020, a third pickup point was opened in Lavina Mall. In 2021, the first physical store opened on the second floor of Blockbuster Mall in Kyiv.
IKEA is a Dutch manufacturing and retail trading group with Swedish roots, one of the largest retail chains in the world selling furniture and home goods. It is part of the Ingka Group. In the 2024 financial year, which ended on August 31, IKEA (Inter IKEA Group) reduced retail sales by 5.3% to 45.1 billion euros. The company opened 56 new stores last year and has a total of 400 stores of various sizes and 174 planning and ordering points.
