Elon Musk may buy TikTok? Trump's statement.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is open to Elon Musk buying the video hosting service TikTok. This is indicated by information provided by CNN.
Trump emphasized that approval from the U.S. government is necessary for TikTok, as without it the platform is irrelevant. He also expressed the belief that TikTok should be sold to a large owner who can obtain the permit and share half of the profits with the U.S. if this is accomplished.
Trump also mentioned Larry Ellison from Oracle as a potential buyer for TikTok. According to Bloomberg, the U.S. president is also considering Elon Musk from Tesla as a potential buyer.
The president signed an executive order that postpones the TikTok ban for 75 days. This ban was set to take effect on January 19. Thus, TikTok is given an additional period to find a new owner.
