Internet without electricity: Ukrainians were shown how to connect Wi-Fi without power.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained how to connect Wi-Fi during a power outage
The Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov explained how to connect Wi-Fi in case of a power outage. According to him, if you switch to xPON, Wi-Fi can operate even without electricity.
How to connect Wi-Fi during a power outage?
Mykhailo Fedorov explained: 'Home internet can work from different networks, but only energy-saving ones will continue to operate during a power outage. If your provider has switched to xPON, plug the router and the ONU device into a power bank, and you will have normal internet.'
How to check the presence of xPON technology in your home?
According to the minister, a simple way to check for the presence of xPON technology in your home is to use the internet map during a power outage, which was released a year ago along with 'MIS Misto'. If there is no xPON in your home, try to find it in the nearest house where it is already installed.
There is no universal solution for mobile internet
Mykhailo Fedorov also noted that there is no universal solution for mobile internet like xPON. However, he mentioned that he is working with operators to ensure communication during a power outage, and for that, active participation from users is necessary.
Let us remind you that the Ministry of Digital Transformation launched a project that describes the first actions during a power outage. Three issues have already been released about why mobile communication does not work, how base stations affect communication quality, and how to set up national roaming.
Earlier, recommendations were also provided to protect home appliances from power outages.
