Spain became the champion at the 2024 Olympics in men's football.
On August 9, the French national team was defeated by the Spanish national team with a score of 5:3 in the final of the 2024 Olympics, which allowed the Spaniards to become Olympic champions in men's football.
In a tense match that lasted into extra Time, the Spanish team managed to defeat France, scoring two goals after a 3:3 draw in the first half. This is Spain's second victory at the Olympics in the men's football tournament. They took revenge for their defeat in the Tokyo 2020 Games final.
Earlier, the Spanish national team became the champion of Euro 2024, defeating the English national team with a score of 2:1 in an exciting match. In this match, the Spaniards showed their skill, strong character, and desire to win.
In addition, Ukrainian wrestler Iryna Koliadenko secured Ukraine's twelfth award at the Paris Olympics, reaching the final in women's wrestling in the weight category up to 62 kg.
During the Olympics, Ukraine already received a bronze medal thanks to Greco-Roman wrestler and Member of Parliament Zhan Beleniuk, as well as a silver medal thanks to Parviz Nasibov. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the athletes and expressed gratitude for their strength and character.
The Summer Olympic Games are being held in Paris and 16 other cities in France, as well as in Tahiti as part of the French overseas country and French Polynesia. Breakdancing became a new sport at these games. It is also worth noting that these are the last Olympic Games under IOC President Thomas Bach.
These games are the first where an equal number of athletes are represented among men and women. The cost of the games is estimated at 8.3 billion euros.
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games took place on the Seine, and the parade of nations passed by the landmarks of Paris. The ceremony was organized by director Thomas Jolly.
