ISW: Russians have used a new deception tactic in Kursk, which is a war crime.
Major General Apti Alaudinov, commander of the 'Akhmat' special forces, stated that Russian troops are disguising themselves as Ukrainian fighters to deceive the Ukrainian army. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) referencing 'Glekom'.
According to the information, Russian forces, while moving along an underground pipeline in Kursk, purposely applied blue insulating tape, which is used by Ukrainian military.
The Russians used the blue tape to make sure 'the Ukrainian military does not understand what is happening' and to make 'Ukrainian forces think that their own units are advancing'.
It is noted that the Russian army attempted to create panic among the Ukrainian troops. It is also known that the Russians were supposed to use the blue tape during the first 24 hours of the operation, and then replace it with red tape, which Russian forces use for identification marks.
'According to the Geneva Convention, treachery is the act of creating trust in the enemy in order to betray that trust and make them believe that they have the right or obligation to provide protection according to the applicable international law during armed conflict', analysts noted.
Recall that Ukrainian paratroopers destroyed Russian special forces who were moving along a branch of the gas pipeline towards Suja in Kursk. It is known that our military blocked the tunnel exit and destroyed about 80% of the group.
By the way, Ukrainian paratroopers already knew about the enemy's plans and managed to intercept them in a flash.
