ISW pointed out the shortcomings of the Ukrainian army.
According to analysts, Ukraine has limited ability to create effective combat units due to insufficient military assistance from the West. Nevertheless, Kyiv is taking measures to avoid a shortage of human resources in the army. As President Volodymyr Zelensky noted in an interview with CNN, Ukraine needs 14 brigades, but Kyiv has not been able to equip even four of them. It should be noted that Ukraine is focusing efforts on increasing domestic drone production and transferring equipment from warehouses or reserve brigades to compensate for insufficient military assistance from the West. However, insufficient supply, particularly of armored vehicles and artillery shells, has led to losses of Ukrainian personnel. According to analysts' estimates, Ukraine's ability to withstand Russian offensive operations largely depends on Western military assistance and Ukraine's efforts to create and restore existing units. But analysts believe that increasing the number of infantry without an adequate amount of equipment will not improve Ukraine's combat readiness.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has managed to increase the regular strength of the Russian army to 2 million 389 thousand people, of which 1.5 million are military personnel. Previously, the enemy army numbered 2 million 209 thousand 130 people, of which 1 million 320 thousand were military.
