Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strikes and noted that they are a response to the growing threat in the region. He warned that Israel would not allow southern Syria to become a front like southern Lebanon.

The attack occurred after calls from Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding the disorientation of the region. They also warned against the unacceptable continuation of the Syrian army's advance towards southern Damascus.
