State media in Iran have confirmed that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, was killed in an Israeli strike on the organization's headquarters.
'Major General Hossein Salami, the head of the IRGC, was killed during an attack by Israel on the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,' reported the Iranian Tasnim agency, citing The Times of Israel.
According to Ukrainian sources, during the attack on Iran, the head of the Iranian armed forces Mohammad Bagheri, several senior military leaders, and leading nuclear scientists of the country were also eliminated.
Israel's operation against Iranian military facilities
This incident is one of the key outcomes of Israel's operation against Iranian military facilities and the nuclear program. The aim of the operation was to suppress Iran's influence in the region and to halt work on ballistic missiles. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as an organization with significant power in Iran, was seriously damaged by this strike.
