It is quite likely that conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein's death have flared up again, claiming that he may have been killed to prevent him from revealing information about a powerful circle of sexual offenders.
“Honestly, I have no idea how he died: whether it was murder or suicide,” he noted during an exclusive interview.
The American authorities claim that Epstein took his own life. Meanwhile, under pressure from supporters of Donald Trump, new demands began to emerge for an investigation into his case.
Mandelson expressed his deep regret about the long friendship with Epstein, despite his past crimes.
“I deeply regret that my communication with him lasted longer than it should have,” he said.
However, political circles continue to demand Mandelson's removal from his position as ambassador in Washington. Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch described his position as 'unacceptable.'
“These are horrifying revelations. Why did Starmer defend him today? What 'full due process' was observed?”
In his comments, Mandelson noted that new compromising information related to his past may soon emerge.
Social Reaction
In the Labour Party, there are already calls for Mandelson's resignation, as his friendship with Epstein has long been public.
MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy called for an urgent investigation, asserting that a weakened prime minister is running a scandal-ridden government.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin's ambassador does not rule out that information about the friendship with Epstein may have gone unnoticed.
