According to UATV: During an informal online meeting of European Union foreign ministers on March 5, 2023, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, raised concerns about constrained production capacity for air defense systems within Europe. This issue has become more pressing due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, where nations require modern protective technologies. The conflict has placed unprecedented demand on global defense supply chains, highlighting a critical vulnerability.

Kallas pointed out that the need for air defense is not limited to Ukraine, which has already established production lines for such systems, but also extends to Middle Eastern countries requiring interceptor drones. She stressed that

"Everyone needs air defense. Ukraine needs it. The Middle Eastern countries also need interceptor drones. The demand exists in both wars. Therefore, there is a real problem with production."

This underscores the urgent need for Europe to intensify its efforts and accelerate the development of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Kallas further expressed worry that limited manufacturing capabilities could impact multiple conflicts:

"We are looking into this issue. But I am concerned that the capacity is limited, and that is precisely why it can affect various wars."
