Ukrainians in Canada will receive an extension of temporary protection until 2026

The Government of Canada has decided to extend the temporary protection status for Ukrainians who arrived in the country by March 31, 2024, under the CUAET program. According to a statement on the government portal, refugees from Ukraine will be able to apply for an extension of their status until March 31, 2026.

Special support measures will allow Ukrainians who have benefited from the program to renew their work permit or extend it, obtain a new study permit, and restore their status as visitors or students without any changes to the usual documentation procedures.

'Canada continues to show its support for the Ukrainian people during this difficult Time,' the official government statement said.

According to Canadian authorities, nearly 300,000 Ukrainians and their family members have arrived in Canada and received temporary protection since the program CUAET began.

Experts note that this decision is part of Canada's consistent policy to support Ukraine and Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homeland due to military aggression.

Canada is also ready to guarantee the security of Ukraine after the war.
