Canada’s Carney Signals a Shift in Trump’s Stance on Ukraine: What the New Aid Package Could Look Like.
Statement from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney
According to Novyny.live: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced a notable change in U.S. President Donald Trump’s approach to the war in Ukraine. According to Carney, the United States has shown a willingness to apply economic pressure on Moscow and to provide new defensive aid to Ukraine. These developments were discussed during the G7 summit in France, where Ukraine’s allies outlined fresh steps to tighten financial sanctions against the Kremlin.
New Military Support for Ukraine
Specifically, NATO may offer Ukraine a new military support package worth €70 billion. Additionally, out of a €90 billion two-year loan approved by the European Union for Ukraine, €30 billion will be allocated for direct support. Another €40 billion is expected to come through bilateral assistance programs.
'There was a shift in tone regarding Ukraine, a change in focus, and what we see as more realistic expectations for how this war will unfold, along with a firmer stance against Russia,' Mark Carney stated.
The changes expressed at the G7 summit reflect growing unity among Western allies in backing Ukraine—a critical factor as the conflict with Russia escalates. Stronger financial sanctions and increased military aid could significantly influence the course of the war and help promote regional stability. These steps also underscore the international community’s readiness to counter Kremlin aggression and uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty.
