During Kate Middleton's walk around the prison, where a mother and baby unit operates, many inmates looked out of the windows and expressed their protests. However, the princess still interacted with other women and greeted them.
HMP Styal specializes in housing women with young children. There is a special area for new mothers who receive help from caregivers for children's development. Kate Middleton emphasized that this unit helps to establish a bond between mother and child in the first months of life.
This visit marked the fifth public appearance of the princess since she returned to public events in November after treatment for cancer.
