Fuel Cashback Up to 1,000 Hryvnias: Ukraine's Cabinet Launches New Compensation Initiative.
Fuel Cashback Program
According to TSN.ua: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has introduced a new cashback initiative designed to partially reimburse citizens for their fuel expenses. This program, funded through the budget of the Ministry of Economy, will remain in effect until May 1, 2026. Each individual can receive a maximum monthly cashback of up to 1,000 hryvnias on fuel purchases.
Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev explained that the goal is to ease the financial strain caused by rising prices.
“We explored various approaches to cushion the price shock for the population,” — Oleksiy SobolevReports indicate that during the first six days of the program, approximately 20 million hryvnias in cashback have been accrued daily.
Compensation for Fuel Costs
The initiative offers partial compensation based on the type of fuel purchased:
- Diesel fuel receives a 15% cashback rate;
- Gasoline receives a 10% rate;
- Autogas receives a 5% rate.
Sobolev also noted that
“we see that 75% of expenses go specifically to utility services,”highlighting the program's relevance as households face escalating costs.
This fuel cashback initiative is a component of a broader Ukrainian government strategy aimed at supporting citizens during a period of economic uncertainty. With energy and utility prices on the rise, this measure could significantly alleviate financial burdens for many families. Its ultimate success will hinge on public adoption and its tangible impact on household spending in the coming months.
