Kia EV5 Weekender: The First Serial SUV Electric Crossover.
According to Korrespondent.net: At the auto show in Guangzhou, Kia unveiled the new concept EV5 Weekender - an improved version of their compact electric crossover designed for active recreation. This is reported by Carscoops. While similar versions were previously shown in the models EV9, PV5, and Tasman, none of them made it to serial production. Given the growing demand for vehicles for active recreation, the EV5 Weekender could be the first to go into serial production.
The concept was developed by the Chinese studio Kia China Style Design Team. The vehicle features increased ground clearance, powerful off-road tires, improved suspension, and a more aggressive appearance. The matte beige paintwork with lime green accents emphasizes the distinctive style of the Weekender series. The crossover is equipped with extended fenders, new protective plates, a modified bumper, a large roof rack, and special attachment points for additional accessories that resemble the style of the Land Rover Defender.

The interior of the vehicle has undergone significant changes, which is unusual for concepts based on production models. The panoramic display now extends across the entire space in front of the passenger, there is a new steering wheel, a modified center console, new air vents, and an updated interior trim with a 3D structure. The trunk has practical elements such as additional brackets and fastenings, similar to Dacia's YouClip system, as well as rails on the ceiling for securing equipment.
Kia's technical specifications have not yet been released, so it is unclear how the concept differs from the production EV5, aside from the suspension. The base model is built on the E-GMP platform and is available in both front and all-wheel drive versions with various batteries, depending on the market. It has also been confirmed that there will be a sporty version of the EV5 GT.
Given the design, equipment, and current market trends, the EV5 Weekender seems very ready for serial production.
We recall that previously, Hyundai introduced the concept of a new SUV Crater.
Honda has also presented the updated crossover Pilot
