Kyiv Pensions to Be Recalculated, but Transport and Utility Prices Stay Unchanged.
Transport and Utility Tariffs in Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: Starting April 1, 2026, fares for public transit and rates for utilities in Kyiv will remain frozen. Ticket prices for:
- trams,
- trolleybuses,
- buses,
- the metro,
- city trains, and
- the funicular
will stay at 8 hryvnias. A single trip on a minibus will cost 20 hryvnias. Electricity tariffs will hold at 4.32 hryvnias per kWh, with the nighttime rate for dual-zone meter users at 2.16 hryvnias per kWh. Gas prices will remain at 7.96 hryvnias per cubic meter, and water rates will not change as of April 1.
Automatic Pension Recalculation
The heating season in Kyiv ended on March 24, signaling stable utility costs for residents. In light of these developments, an automatic pension recalculation for working retirees will take effect from April 1. Individuals receiving pensions below 25,950 hryvnias will receive a one-time supplement of 1,500 hryvnias.
Thus, from April 1, 2026, Kyiv residents can expect stable tariffs for utilities and public transport, along with additional financial support through a pension bonus.
Keeping tariffs at their previous levels may indicate the authorities' efforts to maintain social stability amid economic uncertainty.

This decision is likely to have a positive impact on household budgets, especially given global price fluctuations and inflation. The automatic pension recalculation also highlights the government's focus on social protections for vulnerable groups, which could help preserve the purchasing power of retirees in the capital.
