Kyiv's Heating Crisis Continues

According to Novyny.live: Heating has not been fully restored across Kyiv following a Russian missile attack on the capital on February 12. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on February 16 that approximately 100 buildings are still without heat, while over 1,100 multi-story apartment blocks remain disconnected from the central heating system. This ongoing crisis highlights the severe impact of Russia's targeted attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, especially during winter.

In total, more than 1,000 high-rise buildings are still without heating. Although heating was restored to 2,500 buildings after the strikes, critical damage to the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant (CHP) is preventing the restoration of heat for many others.

“It is currently impossible to supply the heat carrier due to the critical damage to the Darnytsia CHP,” – Vitali Klitschko.

Critical Conditions in Key Districts

The situation remains particularly severe in the Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts, where over 1,100 buildings are not connected to the heating supply. Kyiv authorities continue to work on repairing the system, but a definitive timeline for full restoration remains unclear.

Restoring heat is a critical priority for the local government, as sub-zero winter temperatures pose a direct threat to residents' health and safety. The ongoing efforts to repair this vital infrastructure will not only determine the quality of life for Kyiv's citizens but also test the city's resilience and capacity to respond to the consequences of wartime attacks. The situation requires an urgent solution, as keeping homes warm is essential for public welfare.
