Kyiv Officials Rule Out Mass Evacuation, Assure Heating Situation is Under Control.
Kyiv's Heating Supply Situation
According to Novyny.live: Kyiv's city authorities have stated the heating supply situation remains manageable and that a mass evacuation of residents is not being planned. This assurance came from expert Hennadii Riabtsev in a statement on January 19. He clarified that evacuation advice applies only to residents of roughly 30 high-rise buildings currently experiencing a lack of heating.
Residents of one residential complex have been leaving their homes due to heating issues. However, Riabtsev emphasized that no calls have been made for people to leave the city entirely. The expert stressed there is no need for panic and urged citizens not to give in to fear.
'There is no need to go anywhere, and no need to spread panic' - Hennadii Riabtsev.
Restoring Heat Supply
To restore heating in the capital, teams from 'Ukrzaliznytsia' (Ukrainian Railways) have been brought in to work on fixing the problems. The overall situation in the city continues to be under control, and residents can be confident in the stability of the heat supply.
Heating issues during winter can naturally cause concern among residents. The expert notes, however, that the situation is being managed and does not warrant alarm. It is important for residents to stay informed about the heating status and remain calm, as the relevant services are already working on solutions.
Such official commentary helps to reassure the public and prevent widespread panic, which could further complicate the response efforts. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges to critical infrastructure in Ukraine during the winter months.
