According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Kucherenko has stated that it is technologically and ecologically impossible to replace Kyiv's Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. He emphasized that there are no suitable sites for new facilities and argued that providing reliable protection for the existing CHP plants from missile strikes is a more feasible solution. Kucherenko made these remarks during an interview with 'Kyiv Time'.

Kucherenko, a member of the 'Batkivshchyna' (Fatherland) party, also criticized Kyiv's preparations for ensuring emergency power supply to critical infrastructure. The situation in the capital has worsened following a Russian attack on the night of February 7, which forced the city to revert to temporary blackout schedules. These events underscore the critical importance of defending the CHP plants. CHP plants are a cornerstone of Ukraine's energy system, providing both electricity and central heating to urban areas.
