In France, there is an estate that previously belonged to the passengers of the ship 'Titanic', which sank in the sea.

A TikTok user with the nickname pimpmycamel showed his followers what this estate looks like today.

The video shows that the rooms seem frozen in Time, but noticeable wear and neglect are evident.

Currently, this castle belongs to Engelhardt Cornelius Ostby, a Norwegian businessman. He and his 22-year-old daughter Helen were first-class passengers on the 'Titanic'. The man lived in cabin B-30, while the girl was in B-36, reports Express.

When the ship hit the iceberg, they exited their cabins, but the father returned for warmer clothing. That was the last time Helen saw him.

The daughter was placed in lifeboat number 5, so she survived. The businessman’s body was found in the sea. Here’s how Helen described her experience in the boat:

'We did not panic. But it was clear and audible that people on the ship realized that there was nowhere to go. When the ship began to tip over, we heard a loud crash, a sound as if everything inside had shattered. Then it stopped, and it quietly settled in its position for a minute, and then suddenly went down sharply like an arrow.'

The castle has been empty for 20 years - in 2003, it was abandoned by a family from Indonesia, who neglected the property and stopped paying taxes.

The blogger notes that no one is interested in this castle, as people believe it is a haunted dwelling. After it became known where the building was located, there were cases of vandalism.

'In 2020, a team was created to preserve the castle, as there were incidents of vandalism, theft of items, and graffiti on the stairs. The piano was also damaged,' he added.

At the Henry Aldridge & Son auction in the English town of Devizes, the watch of the richest Titanic passenger, John Jacob Astor, was sold for £1.175 million. It was bought by a private collector from the USA.

The price for this pocket watch became the highest ever paid for an item related to the 'Titanic'.
