Paris Paralyzed by European Heatwave: Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Musée d'Orsey Cut Operating Hours.
Europe in the Grip of a Heatwave
According to Tourism.d.ua — Туризм: Extreme temperatures in Paris have forced the administrators of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Musée d'Orsay to announce reduced schedules. On July 11, 2023, the Eiffel Tower will close its doors to visitors at 4:00 PM, a significant departure from its usual midnight closing time. This heatwave is part of a broader pattern of extreme weather across the continent.
Shortly thereafter, the Louvre Museum will also begin closing at 4:00 PM for the coming days, including on Mondays. The Musée d'Orsay, in turn, will shorten its hours to 5:00 PM until Wednesday.
France is bracing for temperatures exceeding 40–42°C, prompting the management of these major tourist attractions to take action to ensure visitor safety. Adding to the crisis, at least 12 people have died in a massive forest fire in southern Spain, another stark indicator of the extreme weather conditions gripping Europe.
Climate Change and Its Consequences
